There Goes My Waistline

Getting dressed this morning was a little more difficult than normal. My pants are getting tight and I feel pudgy and bloated. I guess it's time considering I'm 1/3 of the way there.

Out of the Woods

Soon after we found out about having twins, we read in a couple of books about the Vanishing Twin Syndrome. This is where one of the babies during the first trimester quits growing and is absorbed back into the body. Needless to say, we have had a lot on the brain since learning about this syndrome. My friend Sean, who is a baby doctor, recommended that we quit worrying and quit reading books and the internet. Turns out she was right!

I haven’t been able to concentrate or think much about anything else leading up to today’s appointment. I told the doctor I just wanted to see that both babies are still in there. He looked at me like “what, you don’t think they still are?” I’m pretty sure he thought I was crazy!

The ultrasound confirmed that both babies are in fact still inside and doing great. We got to see them move all around. I can’t even put into words what a sight this was. They are little wiggle worms. To see them progress from two miniature peanuts just four weeks ago to two actual bodies with heads and arms and legs was breathtaking. Mother Nature is somethin' else!

Doctor is 80% certain they are not identical twins. We'll find out the sex in 7 weeks. Trent is pretty confident they are boys!

I feel like I can breathe again! We are out of the woods.

Ode to Ms. Eleanor

Last fall I began teaching a ballet class for little girls ages 3 and 4 at Chesapeake Fitness Center. I use the term "ballet" loosely as they are just 3 and 4. It is more of a creative movement class. We have a lot of fun and they always have interesting tidbits to share.

Dance recital last week was a success. It was certainly not an Eleanor Williams' School of Dance grand production, but not bad in its own right. Here are a few pics from dress rehearsal. These girls are so darn cute.

I Miss My Grandmothers

I've been a little sentimental lately. Ok, probably more than a little. Heck, watching Steel Magnolia's the other day was gut-wrenching. The funeral scene is much harder to watch now than it has ever been before. I now have a new appreciation for M'Lynn and I haven't even birthed these babies yet! You better have Kleenex handy if you plan to watch this clip.

Back to my point. When my Aunt Charlene called to congratulate me on the good news, she told me that Rose and Juanita are probably up in heaven having a party. I haven't been able to repeat out loud what she said yet because it brings tears to my eyes every time I think about it.

Granny and Grandmother, oh how I miss you! In your honor, I'm having tabouli for lunch and will finish it off with a piece of Juicy Fruit gum (Granny always had Juicy Fruit gum).

A Little Light Reading

As you can imagine, I have read a few pregnancy books in the last month or so. I've learned the science behind everything (including a few things I forgot from Middle School Sex Ed Class). However, my favorite book so far is the Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy.

It's a very light quick read that will leave you in stitches. It tells you all things your doctor won't. Anyone pregnant, thinking about getting pregnant or has already experienced it will get a few laughs out of this book.

The Perfect Baby Name(s)

We are pretty certain on a couple of names, however we still need a few more. While I may not have found the perfect "baby" name during my search today, I did find a name for our next dog...Brinkley!

My search continues. I'm open to suggestions...

Mother's Day

We celebrated Mother's Day at Trent's Grandparent's on Sunday. It is always fun when the Bridges' get together.

Even though I didn't see my Mom on Mother's Day, I hope she knows just how appreciative I am of everything she has done for me. I hope I can be as good of a Mother as she has been and will continue to be to me. I love you, Mom! You hold a very special place in my heart.

Twins!

We had to wait a couple of weeks before seeing the doctor for the first time. Oh, how the days dragged by. But once we did our lives forever changed...again. Twins! I still can't believe it. I wish I could have seen Trent's face when the doctor told us, but I was too busy looking at the monitor that I quite frankly wasn't sure what I was looking at.
The doctor pointed out the two new lives and we heard two heart beats. I still get choked up thinking about it. We are truly blessed!

We Are Pregnant!

I found out I was pregnant on April 1st, 2010. Yes, that is April Fool's Day. I had to share the news with Trent over the phone since I wouldn't see him in person until later that evening at a work party. Not really the time and place to share life changing details with your spouse! Needless to say, it was an exciting day for the both of us.

Next on my list was Mom. We got home late from the party and I was afraid she wouldn't be awake, so I emailed her a picture of the pregnancy test(s). She emailed me back asking if it was an April's Fool joke. No Mom, this is not something to joke about!

We told the Bridges' family the next day. Clay and Sabrina were really excited as were Trent's Grandparents, as this will be the first grandbaby and great grandbaby for the family.

Trent's Mom was coming into town the next day so we were hoping to tell her in person. The trip got delayed so it was another exciting phone conversation.
